Question To buy or not to buy

Thinking of buying a early 2000 model fatboy , but have read a bit on cam shaft bearings not being up to scratch ! Anyone experience this ?

If by "Early 2000" you are referring to years 00-06, the cam bearings were the cage style. Not the best design but not really a problem either. The spring loaded cam chain tensioners will wear out before the bearings do and most owners up-grade the bearing when replacing the tensioners. The year 2000 however has several parts unique to that year only such as the Stator and Regulator. Additionally, the clutch basket of Softails year 2000 is poorly designed. Harley redesigned these components for 2001 productions.
