Default Deluxe a good upgrade?

I got a call today from the dealer as I been looking into trading in my Sportster. They got a 2008 Softail Deluxe with 13,000 miles.

Is a deluxe a good bike? Reliable rides good ect? I have not test drove it yet, going to do that next week. I was just wondering if that is a good one to move up to from a sportster.

Think it would be a great move. Also, if your into "Mods" a deluxe serves as a GREAT platform to do anything from Mild to Wild.

Plus 13K miles on a '08 isnt a lot of mileage.

I made the same upgrade last year. 2013 deluxe from an 07 1200 custom. Only regret was not doing it sooner! All it took was one test ride and I was sold. The deluxe does everything we'll from solo riding around town to two up highway touring. Plenty of room to get comfortable and tons of power.

If you ride the Deluxe, you will buy it. The Deluxe is my favorite Harley of all models. If I rode solo it is the bike I would own. I ride a Heritage due to 90% of my riding is 2 up.

Would the deluxe still be good for 2 riding or is it more for 1 person?

That is a good looking Deluxe. Your passenger will not like that pillion seat, and it will be difficult to match if you are looking for a more comfortable one.

I don't know if I'd refer to it as an upgrade. Each bike has it's own characteristics. It more depends on the way you desire to ride.
For example, my job & hours demand I drive the cage to work most days. If I could take the bike to work most of the time, there would definitely be a sporty in the garage.

The seat would be the first thing I replace if I get it. I do not like the look of that seat. Don't even know if it is comfortable or not, I will find out soon when I take it for a test drive

The deluxe and heritage are essentially the same bike. The heritage comes with bags, shield, and backrest. The deluxe does not. Very easy to add them though.
