Something inside the fuel tank was broken/missing and the fuel pump was pumping fuel back into the tank agitating the fuel, so it apparently was starved for fuel. He couldn't explain why it would happen when hot and not cold, but at least he found something right away and I didn't have to suffer through a "could not duplicate" episode after trailering the bike to them.

I'll let everyone know what parts and work were required when I pick up the bike. Hopefully it will be ready for the poker run this weekend!

That sounds like the fuel lines inside the tank have developed leaks in the lines. Comes with age and fuel quality.

Funny you should say that… cleaned the bike all up and took it for another short cruise… then I shut the gas off to let her cool off before covering her up for the night only to see gas dripping from the Petcock. Makes sense with what you said. Thank you for responding.

I was able to make it home, but the problems persisted for the duration of the ride. I'm going to take it to the dealer Monday, but wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience.

Thanks.
Does the bike ever cut out and die completly or is it like a cylinder goes down ?

Has issue persisted? Having the same problem with my 96 sporty. She sputters and dies when warmed up.
