If you go through the 1st 3 or 4 pages here on this forum you will find a few seat threads that's going on and around. I started one a few months back, Custom seats/Seat ****, do a search. There are some really nice seats out there with pictures here in this forum too. I am actually surprised that there are so few custom seats out there rather than all the "run of the mill" mass produced seats.
The cost of getting your own seat done is really not that much more, if any, than these mass produced seats. When taking your seat to a custom upholsterer you have so many options on padding, colors and designs to choose from that I don't know why we don't see more of them. I would suggest to anyone who is going to get another seat to at least give some thought to it and maybe go talk to a few shops before hand first.
We all have seen in these threads how guys, and gals, buy multiple seats trying to get something comfortable and a seat that looks better on our bikes than the stock seats. I nailed my custom seat and backrests 1st time out of the gate with comfort and appearance and I could be happier. I hate to sound like a jerk but thanks to all the guys, and gals, who did go through multiple seats because that is what steered me away from making the same mistake. I attached this picture of my bars I took for a guy but you can see my seat in the picture too for food for thought.
