I am 5'8" 66 years old, I went from a '09 Street Glide to a '13 Slim ,,,,,,luv it.
I did change the seat to a sundowner and added bags and a windshield
Seriously considering getting rid of my 05 RK for a new Softail Slim. I just want to get back to a more basic bike & the Slim fits the bill. Would like to here feedback from anyone who has done this or just from Slim owners in general, especially if your around my age 59. How u like the ride, handling etc. If I do pull the trigger ABS&Sec. are mandatory. Thanx
I traded my RK for a softail convertible in 2012. Really like the convertible, had to get used to the handling difference due to the wide rear tire. In 2014, I bought a slightly used softail slim. Now I'd rather ride that than my convertible. So, I'm trading the convertible for the new softail slim s. I'll be installing a detachable fairing due to our climate and insect population. Don't think I'll be going back to a touring Harley anytime soon. Couple things that may be a disadvantage are you have to get used to strapping on your gear (which I enjoy, it takes me back to the old days) and you can't lay these bikes into the curves like other Harley's, the floorboards drag. Be careful which aftermarket exhaust you choose, that can limit your cornering even more. Other than that, the increased power due to less weight, and great handling more than make up for any inconveniences.
