Going from 18 inch gangsters to 16's, need to know cable lengths before I order from Magnum. I had 18s on my previous bike, but going for more comfort this time around

My 18s, I think I used +10s, but I cant remember exactly, and I would go measure but the bike doesnt come until MONDAY.

Anyone with 16 inch gangster Apes that knows exact lengths of cables that I need?

Hey brotha welcome back to the game. I have the 16 " gangsters but they are the Full 1.25 " version. Im sure you are gonna run the 1.50 bars which are about 6" wider.

I went + 10 all around. Dr Vtwin recommended +8 (when they were around) but you cant return them so i did not want to get stuck. So I played it safe.

That being said, I have some extra cable length and think the + 8 would have been fine.
I will post the best pics I have of it. The + 10 s still look fine though.

I would say with the 1.50 bars if you want a tight fit
go with + 8 ,it may be a little risky though. If you want to play it safe go with the +10s. They will still look good and you wont have extra cable flopping all around if you route them nice and neat and use some cable clamps like I did.

I just installed 14" 1.25 gangsters. I went +8 on all cables. (Picture coming soon) I like the fit of the throttle/idle cables, but I think I could have got away with +6 on the brake and clutch cables to tight things up a bit.

I went to the HD parts catalog and got my cable measurements based off their 16" ape measurements because I read couple places that Carlini's run taller than advertised. The 1.25" run pretty true to size. I assume the 1.50" may run a bit tall because on the added girth. I'm not sure the exact measurements but they run a lot wide. 4-6" I think

Why change the cables? You're only going down by 2". I had +10 on my 16" Wild1 Chubbys. If I was buying them, I'd go +12 since the 16" Carlini's are about 1.5" taller than the Wild1s. HTH!.

 

He is getting a new bike, his old bike with the 18's was sold a while ago.

 

Yeah what tommy said, sold bike got a new one.
Going with 16s this time. Guess I'm gonna have to wait until Monday when the bike gets delivered to do some measuring. Want them perfect.
