I took the vinyl off early on didn't put anything under the pillion at first. After several rides with the wife on back I noticed the damn seat had rubbed lines into the paint... I now have a bunch of electrical tape on the bottom of the seat but am looking for a large patch of rubber to put down in between. The lines in the paint are deep enough that using my power buffer isn't taking them out

Moral of the story: make sure if you use the pillion that you have something in between it and the fender.

All great suggestions. Thanks guys. I'll look into mocking up some kind of felt pad to lay between the two.

Also thinking about cutting a microfiber towel to fit. That should work too.

Why not just leave the "sticker" on and get a fender bib?

I've seen bikes with them on and they look like they fit good.
Perhaps it's the vendor that's poor that results in a poor fit.

I don't know first hand, I leave the passenger pillion on all the time except to wash.

There's also a thread on here somewhere about fender bibs where I posted this stuff a few days ago.

I like your idea - do you know what the part number on this is?

I had a mustang one and it didn't hug the fender well at all and just was shoddy all around.

I used 3 of each of these.

51760-10 TRIM, pillion mount (rubber)
51761-10 TRIM, pillion mount (chrome)

Here's what I did today as my vinyl sticker was exactly as crappy as all the others.

1. Removed the Sticker
2. Put some double-side adhesive under the seat

3. Put an A4 format sheet of black felt (1,5mm) under the seat and trimmed the edges

That's the result - felt is hardly noticable

Hope this can be of help to someone...

Cheers guys

Pulled it off when I got it home...looked terrible. Got a new solo seat so I don't need it anyway. I have some felt on the passenger pillion if I need to put the stock seat/pillion back on.
