I've got an opportunity to buy a Pitbull Lift with the turntable for a pretty good price.

Opinions? Pros or Cons??

 

I have a Pitbull and a J&S. I used Pitbulls when there wasn't anything else out there like it (in terms of stability and quality). In my opinion, the J&S is a more stable lift, it does dynas, sportsters, touring and soft tails without any kind of adapters to introduce instability.

Pitbull makes a great product, but for multi bike owners like me, the J&S beats it. On top of that, the J&S takes up less floor space. But if the deal is right, (for me it'd have to be 200.00 or less) you can't go wrong with a Pitbull.

 

I have the Pitbull Manual jack. It replaced an old Harbor Freight jack.

I lucked out and found a like new one for $150 used. It runs circles around the Harbor Freight jack.

It does take up a lot of floor space and I believe that was the main reason why it was being sold.

I would have a hard time paying the full price for it but am very happy with it.

I have a pit bull I got used for 160 can't beat it. Heavy as hell and solid.

 

I've had my Pitbull for about 15 months now, and can say:

- INCREDIBLY stable. I use mine on a GRAVEL driveway, by placing an alumnium plate (about 30" by 48" as I recall) under it, and the bike absolutely solid on it while I work on it or wash it. I have the aluminum plate embedded about 1.5" below the gravel surface, since both my last bike (a Honda VTX 1800 Retro - 800 lb) and my new one (HD Breakout - 700 lb) were lowered versus stock, and I can lift with confidence that the bike is stable

- The wider platform of the Pitbull is what makes that stability so good. Watch the video on the Pitbull website to see how ridiculous you can be and still not tip the bike

- The Pitbull is very easy to use

- The Pitbull is VERY solidly built

- The Pitbull is very easy to move around on a paved or concrete surface.

- The Pitbull CORRECTLY lifts a bike by lifting its frame rails, not its engine block

- The ppaint is very durable and effective - my Pitbull lives outdoors under a screened porch roof, so occasionally gets wet with no corrosion resulting


Negatives:

- The extra weight of its solid construction makes moving it around a bit harder if you are on gravel or going up or down stairs (I have both issues )

- The extra weight of it makes it harder to load or unload from a vehicle

Overall: Superb product.

Good info. I have the harbor freight heavy duty aluminum jack and it does flex when working on the bike and moving it around, I don't think so...

 

I have the Pitbull & the extra height the lift provides closed the deal for me. I also bought the dyna style as it works on all bikes & has more room between the bars that makes working under a bike easier. It's rock solid & don't believe the everything in the video although the J&S is a great product too. You can't go wrong with either.

 

I had the Harbor Freight motorcycle jack(the steel one, not the aluminum one) a friggin seal went on it and I didn't have the extended warranty so I was out the measly $59.99 I paid for it(with a coupon) I ended up buying a Craftsman one off a friend for $50.00 that he never used. he got it as a gift and already had the pit bull jack.. the Craftsman jack works great so far........ in fact I just used it this morning to wash the bike......

 

In the review they don't talk about the aluminum harbor freight jack they only cover the steel one. it looks well made............
