RE: detachable backrest question
I've recently put that entire kit on my '99 Fat Boy. I don't have any pictures. I will take one or two and post 'em back in here by the afternoon. The look is not exactly the reason for which I put it, it was entirely functional... I wanted to provide my girlfriend safety and confort. That is exactly why I went deatachable.
Regards.

RE: detachable backrest question
I put the kit on my 2006 Fatboy. I have no photos, but it really doesn't look that bad. If I was choosing between having a rigid mount sissy bar and suffering the look of the turn signal relocation kit, the relocation kit was definitely the better choice in my opinion. I only use my sissy bar every once in a while.

RE: detachable backrest question
Here's the detachable hardware and the relocation kit installed. Mind you, you have to pull the fender for a clean install..and getting the wires through the threaded posts do as they say and lube theS^ outta them. HappyI don't have to do that again. Rage ON

RE: detachable backrest question
Nice looking bikes......On my 06 the fender did not have to come off, just reached up between the fender tip and the tire to access the wire to cut it. When you reassemble be careful not to overtighten it, I snapped the freakin thing in half (I think it was the middle part) by overtightening it, but lucky for me andMUCH TO MY SUPRISEthe dealer hadJUST that middle part and I think it was only about 6-7 bucks not a big deal but just trying to save you a trip. Other than that it was still a pain in the a$$, but IMHO they really don't look that bad. I'll try to post pics if you cannot see it in my sig.
