Default Starter Issues (again)

Ok, I got an 2002 Heritage, FLSTC with a 95", 10:1 pistons, heads done by Hildreth Performance w/a 204 cam. I'm on my 5th starter. Yes, I know I should have put CR's in at the get go but the builder didn't mention it and I had no clue. The bike has about 90,000 on this set up and the current starter has been in for the longest, around 6 yrs. I haven't put as many miles on it during that time though since I've got 4 other bikes to ride. My question is, when it starts the kick back, is it the actual starter or is it something else that can be replaced? I've got new battery and cables and i forgot what starter is in there now but it's not stock. Was told that it would last forever. I live in another state now so the former tech is no long available. I've still got my stock cyclinders, heads cams and pistons so would it be benifical to have those done to 95" or just get another starter. TIA

My 103" has about the same setup and there is just too much compression pressure to make the starter live. Change the cams to something that the intake closes after 40 degrees. that will help it. or take the heads off and install compression releases
