Default FXST and FXSTC guys skinny front tire question

Does that skinny front tire effect the way the bike handles? Do cracks in the road bother it at all?

thanks

Not so much that you can't get used to it. Roads in this area aren't in especially great condition, but I've had no problems. The frontend does feel a little light when accelerating hard at 100+.

The only time I've ever had the slightest bit of a problem is when going over those metal grate bridges or with deep cuts/grooves between lanes of asphalt. Either way, it's nothing that has thrown me off or anything. Just a little wobble.

I am leaning toward trading to FXST , but hate spokes so will prolly upgrade the front wheel anyway.

What have you guys done in front wheel upgrades?

Cessna 172 has a new wheel I learned to fly on a 172

Thanks

Trust me, those metal grate bridges are bad even with 500-16 tires all around.[sm=yikesomg.gif]

Yea, me also. Still getting 70 - 80hours year. Bigger money pit than the bike. Annuals, regular maintenance, $5 a gallon 100LL, you know the drill. Still love it though - the ultimate off-road machine.

The only thing that I have noticed with the skinny tire so far is railroad tracks have to be taken more seriously. There are some less than par crossings in my town, and have had the front wheel slide out a bit when hitting the tracks.

The stock Dunlops would follow grooves in the road, but since I went to a Metzeler ME880 90/90-21 front tire (and an ME880 on the rear too), I don't have that problem at all. As for overall handling, again no problems with either make of tires.

Cheers!

Thats about all you really have to worry about with the skinny front tires. Rutted gravel can be a pain in the tail though.
