Default Oil question?

Every since I got my 2006 Fatboy, every once in a while I will find a dime size or smaller spot of oil on the floor under it. It is coming out of the vent hose that runs in front of the mud guard in front of the rear tire. There is no oil blowing back on the frame, rear tire, or anything like that and no noticable drop in oil level. It doesn't do it every time I ride. I have ruled out leaks from the primary and tranny as well. I have taken the bike into two dealers and they have found nothing wrong. I keep the oil level at about 70% of the FULL HOT marker on the dipstick. Shovelhead Bob advised me to do this and it has really helped. He said the oil blowing out is due to the oil tank being over filled. I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this.

I guess it still worries me a little to see an oil spot on the floor under my 20K motorcycle.

Have you checked the overflow or breather line from the tranny?
It may be that the tranny is just slightly overfull and when it gets hot a liitle bit of oil is getting into the tube and dripping out later.

Hey Warg I went through the same brain drain. Yes I found not filling it to the point your told to do so in the manual is the answer. Why doesn't Harley tell you this? I don't know, you would have to ask a higher authority than I and god is busy in Iraq. Just kidding you know?

Okay, I can sleep better. Good to know it's not just me. I still love my Harley.
