Top endm bottom end?

Top end, bottom end?
I have an '07 FLSTC. She's about ready to turn over 100k. A couple years ago, we bought a (500lb) tent trailer. (Circa 1990 Backwoods Bungalow) The bike tows it surprisingly well. She's has Syn III from day 1. Every service or repair has been performed either by the dealer or me. Not 2,500 service missed. Not ****, just picky....
I'm beginning to hear a little piston slap and am thinking it's time to do the top end. I'd like to upgrade to a stage II 103. I've asked several "professionals" (Service mgr. independents... etc) and cannot get an answer. Seems (we're) all so concerned about liability.
Is it imperative that I do the bottom end as well when rebuilding the top end? As the bottom end is designed to accommodate a top end as large as 115 CI, it would seem that it should be good for 103 at 100k.... or not.
I promise, if you advise its ok to not do the bottom end, and I do only the top end, and my bottom goes, I won't hunt you down and sue you.... Promise....
Thanx in advance.
