Continuous whine/noise from primary in 2007...suggestions?

Inner primary bearing noise will stop when the bike is stopped, in gear, with the clutch disengaged. That's about the only set of conditions where you can be sure that the bearing isn't turning, while the engine is running.

I have an 07 street Glide and it has the new pprimary chain tensioner, they got rid of the old style that you had to adjust yourself, so I can't see why the inner primary chaincase bearing would go out from over tightening. Like a friend of min e told me years ago, all harleys make a lot of strange noises, best to ride and enjoy and quit fretting over weird noises. It'll drive you crazy.

Hey. First post. You said it was not RPM specific, I assume that to mean it occurs at all RPM. You did not mention if it is sync'ed to RPM. When my '07 FLSTC had abour 24k miles, I heard a sound with similar characteristics. When I took it to the dealer, they said it was normal. About 35k-40k later, when my alternator failed (still under extended warranty) the tech (who was the same tech who had ridden it earlier) was quite proud to have found a failed input bearing. drain and inspect your primary lube, if there's metal in it.....
