Got her home at long last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, despite temps verging on 0C (32F), the wife brought me out to the dealership this morning, and I rode my Fatty home!! My Dad was following the caravan home (he was coming to our place to pick up my Gold Wing...which is now HIS Gold Wing...), and he has the thermometer option in his truck. He said as we left Camrose (the town the dealership is located in...) it was displaying 5C (41F), but by the time we hit the highway out of town it was showing 2C (or about 35.5F). About 4 kms from the dealership, we hit the local Mickey D's for lunch, before heading off for home. At that point I switched from my half shell to my full face helmet. (Face was near solid after a mere 4 k's...) First pic is taken at the local Mickey D's, and displays this year's first case of helmet hair. I had a hoodie on underneath the jacket, plus some heavy linedgauntlets, which definitely were good choices for the ride. 135 kms (about 85 miles) later, I was home. I admit I was damned chilly by the time I got into the driveway, but I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. It was one of the most anticipated rides of my life! One of the best parts was zipping along, and getting a wave from a couple of guys heading up the ditch on their skidoos!! Road is clear as a bell, but there is still more than enough snow for snowmobiling around here. Alberta...ya gotta love it!! The second attached pic was taken by my son, from inside our van. (Wife was middleman in our 3 vehicle caravan...I was lead, and my Dad was tail end Charlie...) Note snow covered fields on boths sides. Once I got home, spent most of the rest of the day trying to get my wife's uncooperative 800 Vulcan to fire up. (still no luck...but a much better idea of what the problem is...) Managed to get one more short boot in later in the afternoon, but around town, and it is SLOPPY out there. Came across a young fellow on a sportbike, who'd already taken a tumble. (Shoulder checking to make a lane change, and when he looked back the fellow in front of him had jumped on the binders...he was OK...bike not so much so...) Came back mud splattered, but happy. Tomorrow the fun really begins...get to start bolting on shiny bits & pieces...[sm=smiley20.gif]
