Help! Pre wired bar kit for a 2012
So I just got off the phone with Hill Country Customs. They are basically telling me that I cannot order a prewired kit for my bike due to Harley's new "CAN" system (microchips in the switch housings) that in order to put bars on the bike I would have to send my bars to them to remove the wiring harness and extend it. Is there something special with the 2012 bar wiring that I don't know about, or is it really such a pain in the a** to do. Any and all help would be appreciate I just want to order bars the right way and prewired if I can.

The new wiring systems just mean less wires and smaller plugs. You just need to unplug the wires from near the neck under the tank. Then feed them out of your old bars, and into the new ones. My bars are 14" and there was still plenty of wire left to get the original wires and plugs out the bottom of the bars.
The difference between the can bus and older systems is that on the older ones there were more wires and larger plugs. So you either had to disassemble the plugs and fish the wires through, or cut them off and splice them back. With the new can bus systems the plugs will fit through the bars, so they are actually much easier.
For my 14" bars I used 12" extensions from Harley and had a little slack left. Namz sells these extensions as well here....
