if the reach on a hard turn is the problem swap out the bars, if your not having to change out cables & brake lines going to a narrower bar will be a minimal expense. You might want to consider giving the bars some time while you adjust to the new bike. Hit some parking lots and practice. On a tight turn I'll occasionally drag my rear brake
