Like a few others have mentioned, don't be shy to go a little taller. Sit on your bike and have your wife measure how high those 10-12" mini apes will sit. You will probably be surprised. I'm 6'3" and went with 16" Carlini Gangsters on a 1" riser and my hands sit barely above my shoulder...depends how straight I sit. But, for the most part, any handlebar modification will require new cables and wiring. Good luck!

I'm 5'10" and I have 16" burly bars with the stock 4.5 inch pullback riser on my Deluxe. From the top of the triple tree to the top of the grips my bars are 22.5" tall. I have been on the highway for extended periods of time at 80 plus and have never experienced one bit of wobble. When changing to taller bars you must wap the bushings for urethane. My bars barely flex.

On my sportster I had wobble with 12 inch mini apes. On my night train I didn't have any wobble with 14's but I do have it with 18's

I do have the bushings swapped out. It maybe that I am short 5'5" so that plays a part of the equation. I never had a problem with 14's but once I went up to 18's I get a wobble when I move around on my bike. When I sit still I am fine. My sportster did it with 12 inch bars. There could be a few things that affect the bike

I am digging the mini-apes on my wife's Dyna so I am looking to make a change. A buddy has a Heritage softail and I sat on it this weekend. I think that I will be swapping the Heritage bars onto the Deluxe.

the rule with apes is whatever size you think you want, go atleast one size higher. I made that mistake when I put bars on my SG.... regret not going with taller bars.

At 6-4, I am surprised you aren't crippled after riding 700 miles on the stock Deluxe seat.

Default Yes...new cables required

I put 12" Roland Sands Pro-Step internally wired bars with very low Roland Sands risers (1-1/2" I believe?) and, yes, I had to replace the cables.
