Carlini Flying Ape Pullback
#11
I like the gangsters too, but they probably have negative pullback since they curve forward. - and they have to be tilted forward to look good. My arms are on the short side, so I'm not even sure I could reach a tall set of gangsters setup right.

I think the Flyin 1.5" were 41" wide. They were comfy and tall enough that they did not hamper lane splitting in the 16" height. I have Carlini's on my bagger now (Evil ape 17" 1.25") and they are 37" wide which seems a little better for me.
In comparison, had T Bars on the Dyna that were 32" and they were great for splitting. As far as comfort I really didn't notice much of a difference.

Pitbull, I just went through this whole ordeal. Never thought I'd have to over think a handlebar purchase, but wanted to get it right the first time. Call Carlini and talk to Tyler. The "stepped down" Gangsters are listed on their website as 38.5" wide but Tyler put tape to a set of 12" for me and they are only 36.5" wide. They don't figure in the diameter of the lower cross bar when figuring the "rise" and the Flying apes also have an additional 1.5" to the rise. He told me the 12" Flying apes(1.25") were actually 14.75"s tall. Same wrist angle as Gangsters but more pullback because the bars angle toward the rider. Confusing, but give them a call. They were very helpful in helping me understand the geometry of all their bars.

Emdog, thanks man! I will do just that. I think I said here or maybe another thread (riding 2 ape threads right now) I'm only 5'4" so 12's is about as high as I'll be comfortable with. I'd prefer to be around 34" but I think I can do 36. I will give em a call for sure. Thanks for the info homie!!
