Question to my fellow softail owners.
I have always owned softails. My current 2019 Heritage 114, I truly enjoy this bike especially over my earlier year Heritages. The handling of my 2019 is great, easy to maneuver around in tight spots, suspension much improved. I generally ride back roads of NC and go on 4/5 day trips which include some pretty good twisties.
I’m considering buying a Street Glide . It’s only 100 heavier than the Heritage but some folks say it’s top heavy over the Heritage and handling isn’t as nimble.

I’m 66yrs old with a full hip replacement which is great, no issues .
Soooooo, has anyone owned a Street Glide that can give me comparisons between these two bikes.
I’ve talked to dealers but I know they want to sell bikes. I’m looking for a non bios opinions from street glide owners who also owns or have owned Heritage too.
BIG THANKS
ENJOY THE RIDE

Reading everything you wrote, its not clear exactly what issue you are having
with the Heritage that you think a Street Glide will solve ?

Thanks for any clarification,

T.

My two cents, I prefer a slightly lowered (preferably with air ride) softail to my '07 Road King. This might sound over-simplified but in my mind, I don't have to steer my softail but I have to steer my Road King. I can turn my softail with my hips. Lower center of gravity plays a part as far as I can tell.

I forgot to mention, I’m will be going on a 10/12 day ride this year. The dealers tell me that the frame of the tour models will be a noticeable difference on longer rides.
Also the faring protection compared to my Heritage will be nice to have.
I did install a Gt ClearView 18’’ curve with vent windshield which is superior to stock windshields.
I just don’t know if it’s worth the extra money to jump into a street glide.
I truly appreciate your opinion

I installed the DK oil filter relocation kit.
Later this week I'll be installing the solid riser bushings

G'day Morish.
Can't really help with your ? But. as far as handling goes how can you beat a ST with 21" front wheel !! Steer it with your bum.
At 66 yo dump all that touring ****, get a room and enjoy the ride ! Got quite a few over 80 that do it.
I've got too many "old" mates that never stop bitching about weight.
Now waiting to be shot down in flames. LOL
Cheers

G'day fellas.
A mate gave me a nice little (2") filter with mount. Decided it looked better than the fuel filter I was using as an engine breather. Nicely mounted under the balance pipe. At least now it I have any blow by (only 22K Km's on clock) the wife will tell me !!!
Then I washed her (the bike!) and threw the saddle bags on for next weekends ride. Took her for a spin, all good.
Cheers
