very stupid... but today I ran to home depot, picked up the smallest universal garage door opener. it's about the size of a matchbook and held in place by the strong weatherproof velcro

It was the first time I didn't have to run back into the house and out the front door after rolling the bike out of the garage

...snip...
I did the same thing, except I "hardwired" mine to a momentary switch and located the remote
out of sight under the console. Here's a pic of the momentary switch button on the console.

I've emailed them 3 times in the last few weeks and get no response.
Guessing you bought from a supplier and not direct?
I ordered direct.

Installed bags from a 16 Heritage on my 02 Fatboy, using the Loydz bracket kit. I also installed a laydown license plate turn signal relocation kit with stems from a softail Duece.

what did you use for an opener? I thought about the same thing, but most openers run on 3vdc and I was sure that if I threw 12vdc contact power I'd blow the board of the remote. Then I thought about pulling a "homelink" from a junker because they run off 12vdc, but they were cost prohibitive, even on ebay

It's just a Genie mini-remote with some wires soldiered to the contacts then run to the switch.
Still runs on the battery. I only need to replace it about every 2-3 years....

Here's a pic...

New on the site, so don't know how to send a private message, but I was in SAR from 68 to 92. Actually Special ops after Viet Nam. Helicopter Crew chief. H1's, 43's, 53's and Black Hawks. Your name sounds awfully familiar.
