you are correct, washer first then peg...a rubber mallet is your friend.

I believe I had to slip the peg in with the washer in place simultaneously and it was still a very tight fit that took some "encouragement".
I am aware that they all have "some sort" of holding mechanism. I was not aware that there was a newer peg with the spring ball dent.

I haven't worked on "a lot" of Harleys, but the ones I have worked on used the spring-washer.
The metric bikes are where I've seen the spring-ball detent used.
(not that any of this means much)

Dropping her off today at the Indy for a full Progressive Suspension upgrade, Monotubes upfront, RAP 422s out back. Plus a full chrome front end going on as well.
Just wish I had the shop space or garage to do it myself.

Took the old man out for a putt for a couple hours. This bike has always fit me like a glove and after 17 years it's still my favorite Harley ever... My 2003 FatBoy (first Harley).


2003 FatBoy w/2001 Heritage Tins.

How this bike used to look from new until about 4-5 years ago.
