What did you do to Your Softail Today?

Picked up my Fatboy from the dealer yesterday. I had the Screaming Eagle Hydrolic tensioner kit installed. Im not too happy with the dealership service department. He gives me the $1450 bill and I review the work and parts list. I see normal items, hydrolic kit $500, gasket kit $110, 6 hrs of labor $600, 5 quarts of oil for oil change $77, misc shop items fees and taxes. Ok, no big deal. But no where do I see an oil filter on the list. I ask him about it and the guys says "I guess they let it off the list so its free". Ok I can understand that. I told him before I pay I wanted to take it for a test ride and make sure everything checks out. He looks at me in disbelief and says "The bikes all good but whatever" I could tell by the tone of his voice he was irritated with me requesting that. So I go outside to take it for a ride. I look closely at the oil filter, It's still dirty with road grime from riding before I took it in for service. They never changed the filter when they did the oil change. I checked the oil and the oil seemed to be fresh and clean so I know it was changed. Took it for a ride and everything else seemed to be good. I went back and paid the bill but I didnt mention the oil filter. It wasnt worth the argument. This will be the last time I use this dealership. Before I took it to the dealer I called an independent shop that I've used in the past that does great work. I called 3 times requesting a quote and the guy would never call me back. They changed owners last year so I guess they're not what they use to be service wise. So I was forced to use the dealer.

Labor at $100/hr is whats insane. They charge $100/hr and pay the mechanic that did the work $20/hr. The independent shop would have been at least $70/hr so not much of a difference. I got to thinking last night, $1450 is 1/10 the price of the motorcycle brand new. Kinda puts it in perspective.
