Got the new rear mag from RC Components! Had the tire mounted, pit on the rotor and pulley and it is installed on the bike. Road test later today and then put the belt and stone guards on and I'm good. Time to ride.
I disputed the 1999 and older mag and I had my money returned.
Thanks for all the input!!! From an earlier post I did find the torque specs, the pages were stuck together by static. Sometimes I feel like a dumb ***.
As always patience prevails. Even though as the hunters saying goes: patience my *** I want to kill some
Have a great weekend and ride safely..

Swapped out the derby cover, ended up with a couple stripped bolts that had to be drilled out. After drilling them out and removing the cover, the remaining part of the bolt could be unscrewed by hand. When I changed out primary fluids several months ago, I just barely snugged the bolts down lol. Luckily it was a easy fix.

Worked on my girlfriends springer this weekend.
she is on the shorter side so we put on some new forward controls that were not as far stretched out. With this and a papers reach seat she should be just in the right place.
Installed some cool retro mirrors to augment the 70’s retro vibe along with some new chrome clutch and brake levers. The old ones had trigger cutouts that she did not like.
the rear break caliper seized up the other day and she drove it home with a rubbing break. Took the caliper apart for a thorough cleaning. Now it works great again but it toasted the break rotor. Talk about warped! The picture does not do it justice. It shaped more like a dinner plate now.
have some new polished rotors on order and the bike should be back together later this week.

I went to round mirrors as well.. Definitely a retro look . As for the rear brake, was the fluid cloudy? This Dot 5 silicon based fluid absorbs more moisture than 3 or 4. Sort of like Ethanol based fuels.. Any ways when that happens enough moisture can get into the fluid causing it to expand and apply brake pressure onto the rotor getting it hot.. Ask me how I know.. When that happens all you need to do is pop the bleeder to relieve the pressure just to get you home.. Then a full fluid flush and all is good again.. nice ride..

G'day Fellas.
After a 600Km ride a week ago I washed the old girl and put her to bed.
Yesterday a mate turned up with his 99 Fat boy for a service. Done, I pulled the cover off mine to go for a quick run around the block with him.
No ignition or idiot lights! WTF! Thinking water got in somewhere I checked the handle bar switch blocks, then the ignition switch. Bugga no power getting to them. Checked the main circuit breaker and starter relay, all good but not getting power up to them. After an hour or so scratching my head (I hate electricks) I found the culprit. The wire from the starter solenoid to circuit breaker was dead. Made a jumper from + battery to cb and it all worked. Lucky it didn't let go half way through the ride a week ago, most with no phone reception or traffic!
A quick ride and all is good.
Cheers
