Well I have a 2020 Breakout and just hit 16,000 miles (20,000 Km)

I have about 2/32 left on both tires. Both are original. I hope the next set lasts longer.

OK so I have 7832 miles on my 2016 Breakout. I purchased it new in late 2018 after it had been sitting on the dealers floor for 2 years (I got a great deal because I told the dealer I was not taking a 2 year hit on depreciation rolling it out the door - $17,250.00. down from sticker of $21,900.00) so I have 3 years of riding on the tire. Mainly 2-up with my wife on the back. I like the way it handles but it does lean into turns a bit differently than my previous rides. It is getting a bit bald and will most likely need to be replaced by September when the next inspection is due.

Are there better tires out there than the OEM tire that came on the bike when new? Dealer wants about $400 to replace the OEM rear tire. I know the prices average around $265.00 give or take plus install. Any recommendations on an other then OEM replacement?

Thanks.

I have never thought about changing tire pressure from manufacturer specs. No tire I have ever put on my bike 2013 CVO Breakout has ever gotten over 4500 miles. D407, Michelin Commander, American Elite, Metzler 888( which was 260/40r18.

Yes a 260/40r18 will fit. It's tight and wide but fits.

Just be careful if you did what I did. I custom installed a set of H-D Leather saddle bags. I had to make the lower mounts from scratch. The mounts had to mount on the inside of the passenger peg mounts between the frame and the tire. I got some custom hardware to do the install. I had less than 1/4" clearance between the nut and the tire. I can post pics later if need be.

Pictures of the custom mounts I made and the very tight clearance with the tire and shroud.

Pics of the custom mounts showing the close proximity to the tire and guard.
