LA-Dog, that is truly awesome. Did you list anywhere all of the changes you have made from stock up to today? Point me in the right direction or post the list. I am going to print it out and use it for my "wish list". Not made of money and I have zero mechanical ability so it will be slow... That bike is kick ***. In my opinion better than any custom I have ever seen, again just my humble opinion. And you did it from a "stock" Harley. Very cool.

thanks - that is very kind of you to say. really this is mostly recycled info. I have to give credit to those who have been here longer and have posted up helpful info, a lot of it I used and asked questions in order to do what I did. Members like 24V have been the real foundation of info for Breakout mods.

For just about every mod I did, there has been a member who already did it and helped me out, or had posted the core info to find and reference.

I don't have a list anywhere but this is basically what is modified on the bike:
  • > VH Big Radius 2-2 pipes with BCT baffles
  • > PM wheels
  • > Pirelli night dragon tires
  • > EBC HH front brake pads
  • > Arlen Ness 70t rear pulley and triglide 30t front pulley (sticky at top of softail forum)
  • > Gunmetal Gray metallic paint from House of Kolor
  • > ol school HD tank badges
  • > custom seat by local upholstery shop, alcantara suede with plain Italian leather
  • > Andrews 57h cams
  • > stock 46mm throttle body bored to 50mm, 4.9 screaming eagle injectors (any softail / dyna 46mm throttle body from 2007-up will work). had the boring service done by George at www.maxbore.com for $125
  • > Powervision tuner with Target Tune wide band add on
  • > Racetech 1.0kg fork springs with Ricor Intiminator dampers, 5w fork oil. (sticky at top of softail forum)
  • > Progressive 422 rear shocks lowered 1.25" (but I don't really like them)
  • > micro stealth front led turn signal bulbs from amazon / JDM ASTAR - there is a thread on this in the softail section here "$22 diy turn signals"
  • > 3M carbon fiber vinyl wrap on tank dash and fork upper tubes
  • > black powdercoated rear fender struts, black painted rear turn signal housings, lots of various bolt heads painted black
  • > black headlight housing trim ring (ebay)
  • > spike front axle cap nut covers (ebay)
  • > knurled design gunmetal HD grips and front pegs
  • > Rizoma Circuit 851 mirrors (got the idea from some custom BO's on thunderbike.de website)

That's pretty much it for now- If I had to do it over again I would have started with the belt pulleys, tuner product and pipes first.

the three most significant improvement changes to the bike in terms of benefit gained for the $ spent were:
  • > belt pulleys to 30/70 (30/68 is very good too)
  • > front fork springs and dampers
  • > getting rid of the stock **** tires with a correct 120/70 up front and better compound (pirelli, metz, higher line Dunlop)

Those three things alone will dramatically, unarguably improve a stock BO. no joke. getting a tuner product and some good pipes after that will tie it all together and give you a decent, less "epa friendly" performance tune.

I thought I heard a nice lope on the motor, must be the Andrews 57H cams. What are you not happy with on the Progressive 422 rear shocks ?

^^ Some guys like them a lot, for me I don' think they have enough rebound control at all when bike is lowered. it's acceptable with only me on it, but adding the 120lb wifey on the back and it's a freaking floppy flier on hitting any bumps.

probably anyone's best option for rear suspension right now is Shotgun Shocks, as they have an adjustable rebound in addition to preload. I might have to pony up and get them. Although I could give a crap about a switch to raise or lower the bike and I really don't want an air-based suspension. I just want it set one height and be able to adjust both compression and rebound damping a bit if needed, like we can do on the outboard shock Dyna's. e.g. one click for me only and two to three clicks for me plus wifey. Still as of yet no one makes a true performance adjustable set of shocks for softail. Ohlins did at one time but stopped making them.

Tires !! Check out post 37 and post 43:

I'm not looking to bash the brand but this seems important.

Another very good thread on tires for Breakout- and also not too many pages long. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...o-threads.html

BTW I'm still playing around with the idle lope of these cams. due to their 32 degrees of overlap you get some leeway. Depending on how I set my idle timing, idle AFR, and CDE table values it affects it greatly. ranging from a weak idle at 50kpa to strong, very ol school lopey idle at 36kpa with 11.5 AFR (sorta like when you had the enricher partway out on an Evo). The "norm" I'm seeing is going to be right around 38-40kpa.

what kind of effs up the idle lope is the EFI computer and idle rpm compensation routine. you can hear it in the video. the timing will fluctuate a couple degrees and the rpm up / down as much as 20, as the ECM tries to keep the best idle - (I'm not entirely sure about that being "best idle" from an ear's perspective but the bike indeed does always run fine!). After I get my tune completely dialed I will experiment with setting the idle rpm comp settings to 0.

so far my idle likes it best between 19 degrees and 22 degrees of advance and I keep idle AFR for now at 13.2, and 904rpm. The video is with 19 degrees, 13.2 and 904, and about 38kpa. Idle VEs cells at 0TP and 750-1125 rpm are low 80's.

No offense, but I have no idea what you are talking about. You are way over my head. I am sure others on this forum do understand, but I do know your bike sounds really cool....

Yeh no big deal, you will eventually- it was like that for me too. if you ever want to read up on basics of how the EFI system works, things like kpa, TP, VE's and spark advance, this is probably the best written guide out there. with really clear illustrations and comments. don't try to read it all at once, it's good to just hit sections on "VE tables" or "spark advance" at a time. it won't make you an expert but it will make common tuning-related terms that you read about in the forum understandable.

And it looked like it had the correct plugs for under the tank. But of course idiot me forgot the model I Saw. I don't want to splice wires or change the mounts. I want the same set up but in chrome. Any ideas???

I'm sorry i should say i have a 2013 non-cvo (or i would of just changes the housings to the CVO from my year but it has cruise control).
Have'm chromed.
