I have the Rivera LED headlamp with built in LED signals ... meh ... it's better than the POS light H-D builds the bike with.

It does work perfectly though - no condensation or flickering. It fit the H-D bucket, although I switched to a chrome version from Custom Chrome.

 

I have had my Breakout now for around 18 months and it is time for a change. I have been watching all of you "personalise" your rides and it has inspired me to have a go. Having never worked on a Harley before I was a little nervous, but downloaded a manual and went for it. I have attached a before pic, and a few pics from last night when pulling it apart.
My apologies to all you "chrome boys" out there, but I like the look of the darker bikes these days. New headlight, dash, upper front fork covers and plenty of powder coating should make it look a little different. And hopefully a set of shotguns being shipped to Australia shortly.

I will post a pic when all back together, might be a few weeks.

I love the chrome, but the dark Breakout or contrast Breakout both look good.

 

I finished the conversion today and I can confirm that the FXSB clutch works with the CVO hydro actuator. No clutch replacement needed.

 

Where did you buy the upper fork covers, or did you have them made?
Also how do they fit?

Any tips for removing rear axle Allen nut without buying massive Allen key. Why not just use a nut HD!!!

 

Nope ... can't think of anything as big as that, that isn't a Hex key or driver.

Just buy the tool ... you know you want to

 

I machined them out of aluminium myself. I just got 2 lengths of aluminium tube(OD 60mm, ID 50mm, Length 177.5mm) and machined oring grooves in each end. The oring ID is 49mm(OD forks) and they just sit proud out the ends of the tube so none of the covers touch fork or clamp. They are at the powdercoaters now with everything else turning gloss black.

I did find some that I could buy but I thought they were very expensive for what they are. They were very easy to make if you have access to a lathe.

Putting together a spreadsheet trying to organize before I drop the ~$18k on the bike.. anybody put the Roland Sands Vintage Shortstack bars on? I have mini apes on my Sporty, and as badass as a few of the Breakouts with apes have on 'em on this forum, I'm not sure I want to go that route with the Breakout. I don't like how far the stock bars are forward, and adding a little bit of height would be pretty useful for comfort, I just don't really know what direction to take this as of yet.
