Trust me, I agree with you.... The price is insane but the market supports it so they get away with it.
His bike is gonna look phenomenal once it's installed. To me personally that's what matters, at the end of the day it's only money and you'll make more of it. if you're lucky to be able to afford it why not.

You shouldn't be so surprised at the price, especially because of who makes that particular wheel he bought. PM has some of the best quality stuff on the market, they know it and they charge accordingly.

SO finally found that 2-1 pipe from the video- it is from BSL Exhaust in Austria. seems like they have some nice designs.

they have an adjustable baffle system - see the vid- looks like all of their pipes are EU approved for legal road use so they have to have some type of sound suppression.

I agree - it's freaking ridiculous but these are "boutique" parts. Retail on this wheel was $1649. My other bike, the Big Dog has PM everything, about $7k+ worth of fancy shiny billet.
At least PM pays strong attention to detail and quality. I have never had an issue, visual or mechanical, with a PM part.

Im not surprised by the price I just think its way to much for what it is. And I guess I take issue with the "quality" part of your statement. Its no secret these rims are cut from a block of aluminum using a CNC machine. That's about all there is to it. Unless PM's aluminum is better than others (not really sure how that works) I don't see how quality differs from one to the other? Either way I do agree that there is a market for them and if you got the cash then why not.
The bike is gonna look sweet LA that's for sure.

There is a lot more to it than that- http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/....jsp?techid=90
The term "billet" by itself does not mean squat other than it is a square chunk of base metal. These particular PM wheels are forged billet which is going to command a higher price- and they will take a lot of abuse without cracking or bending while being light weight. I have seen some of the cheaper billet wheels on choppers and sport bikes crack the spokes, bead edges or even twist the spokes like a throwing star.
You also have to consider liability, DOT rating / approval for road legal use, low manufacture volume (this particular wheel is made only for the Breakout, per order), and the cost of the forging press / tool / die / cnc equipment, marketing, and other associated costs with producing quality custom parts. Sure the price is high for a wheel but if you consider everything it's about par for the market. And I would never run aftermarket wheels on my road bikes that I'm not 300% confident in so I'll suck it up and pay a bit more. Although the stock Breakout Gasser and CVO wheels are exceptionally nice- I don't see a real need to upgrade them unless you got stuck like me with a 50-50 situation.

Jesus ... do the currency conversions to see the prices on their pipes.
If you guys think the rear wheel is expensive, the prices on these Austrian pipes will give you a freaking aneurysm.
