Here is that space with the Dunlop 250. The two are pretty much the same width, so this gives you a good idea.

How are the clarity covers working out for you so far? I want to get some but I've been reading reports of them cracking and leaking.

Interesting because RSD is a high quality product. This is the first I've heard of this with the clarity line. If it cracked or leaked, I would question the install first...possibly over tightening the screws or not seating the gasket correctly.

I will do a little research because I've been leaning towards the clarity cam cover.

Uh, take a closer look. That belt is less than 1 inch wide (it's a metric measurement - 24 mm I think). See the edge of the tire beyond the printing in the sidewall? That's less than 1/8 inch between the tire and the belt. Some might call that "plenty of room", but I would not. Harley swing arms are not absolutely rigid under side loads.

uh, I respectively disagree
I think it looks more like 3/8" on the 250.

I'm certainly no HD tech but if the movement allowed a gap between the tire's leading edge and belt, of even 1/8", to close, not absolutely rigid would be a bit of an understatement no ?

Everything is good so far. I haven't heard anything otherwise but I'll take a look at that thread you posted. I like them a lot and might get the clarity covers for the top of the motor as well.

There is plenty of room. I have been running that tire for over 3000 miles and there is no sign of tire to belt contact.
Don't mind Jim, he's an enginerd. I mean you may have a problem under a side load, you know, like a Mac Truck hitting you or something.
