That is not engine oil temperature, that is cylinder head temperature. Were you doing a lot of stop and go like in traffic? Was the outside temperature super high? My bike will get that hot if it is very hot outside and I am stuck in traffic.

It was about 70 degrees outside and I was not in traffic, just riding around the suburbs. Demo mode on the fp3 iphone app shows temps in the 380's. What's a dangerous range for that reading?

I've sent a request to V&H to send me the map file for Softail + 2:1 + Heavy breather, shouldn't be any different than a lo, fatboy, or whatever... It's a little annoying that they've made the app so generic that you can't manually select a combination.

Yeah, that is way hot for that. For typical riding, where you are not stopping and going a lot, and at 70 degrees, you shouldn't be seeing more than like 250 or so max.

Ever since I had my Jagg 10-pass oil cooler installed, the oil temperature has NEVER hit above about 220. It makes a difference.

We are talking about cylinder head temperature, not oil temp. What is your head temp?

no idea. I don't keep my Power Vision on the bike - just used it for the dyno tune.

Well plug it in next time you go for a ride and have a look.
I don't keep mine on my bike either, my speedo has a readout for cylinder head temp.

I have the accessory HD analog tachometer with digital LED speedo, fuel gage, etc, which does not include the head temperature. I believe that Dakota Digital MIGHT have a unit that includes the head temperature - I know they had one for the Sportster that I owned a few years back.
