Default Rear wheel tweaking

I am sure these question have been covered in the forum but I just spent 45 minutes and failed to actually find the info I need...

I have a 2001 FLSTF fatboy and I have noticed that the rear tire is offset to the left by at least 1/4" and it drives me frackin insane. I have been told that this is to balance the weight of the primary but on my bike that is not an issue.
I want to center this wheel. Is there any reason I cannot make/add/remove spacers in the hub and pulley to work this out?

After the wheel is centered, what is the widest rear tire I can mount in there> I can trim fenders and turn bolts around etc... but I want to use a stock width fender and struts.

Thanks!
Dan

They, HD, designed it that way for a reason...My rocker is offset front and back, which to me is bizarre, but it was designed and tested/tweeked by engineers who I hope know what they are doing...LOL. Mine runs great once you upgrade your springs and ride it for about 2 k miles to get used to each others style...I would not worry about it and I think we notice it because we are working on our bikes up close, the average person is clueless and would not see it, my bet...lol. You should see the back of the rocker, it is offset alot...Remember what gramps told you, if it isn't broken, don't screw with it...Ride safe.

Check your front wheel, probably offset in the opposite direction. You won't notice it the fender as the mounts on the tubes are offset to make the fender look centered. Not sure if there is any fix for it, but most are like that. I have heard of some people bending the fender struts slightly to make the back of the fender look centered over the wheel, but that doesn't sound like the solution you're looking for.

I've slammed the front fender and never noticed any offset so it must not be great. The rear is what I am concerned about most and for two reasons.
1. It irritates me ...like following someone with their blinker on
2. I want to install a wider tire and it will rub on the left side unless I center it.

Back to the main question... once centered, what is the widest tire I can run?

My Indy did a 2 hour job where he actually grinded the Rear Brake caliber, recentered the wheel, with new spacers.
The result is you can fit easy 150 tire of any brand, although , the Dunlop 150 (cruizermax) is actually 160 it is the same as Metz 160. if you did what Denyo says (reverse the rear fender head bolts).
Mind you after a season I hated the fat rear look went back to 150 and mayb go back to 140 next year , skinny is the new 'phat' .

But back to your question, the MOCo did center the rear wheels starting 2003, so you can do it too.

If it's a spoked wheel, there's probably no need to mess with spacers etc. and moving the entire hub. A place that trues wheels should be able to offset the rim in the direction you want.

My 05 train is offset front and rear, must be 06 when they started centering.

Its a 01 FLSTF Fatboy so it has solid rims. I will have to fiddle with the spacers. I have a little smitty lathe so it should be simple...just time consuming

klf33 - Do you think the Dunlop 150 (cruizermax) or the Metz 160 woudl fit on your bike with your mods?

2nd question - Will a tire like the Avon Cobra 150 fit on the stock front as well?
Dennyyo?
