Default Extended warranty

I purchased my Sofetail deluxe about 2 months back. WHen i did, I was coached into getting the 7 year extended warranty, with the tire warranty option and it is 2,000 bucks.I believe it is refundable within a certain time after purchasing. Any one care to comment on the need and price of these HD warranties.

Note- 7 year warrant does not take place until factory warranty expires so actually a 5 year warranty.[sm=biker2.gif]

Hopefully you will never need the warranty. I had enough issues with them taking care of an oil leak on my wife's Sporty, I consider the warranty useless from them. It took me 3 months to get an oil leak fixed because they didn't think it was severe enough to fix. It was only seeping, not leaving a puddle yet! I'm glad I didn't purchase the extended warranty from them. It's always a crap shoot with the extended warranties.

My opinion... If you are going to stick to the Stock Set-up, motor etc... Then fine, get the warranty. If you have a great relationship with your shop and some engine mods will be covered under your warranty then get the warranty. A SERT and some other engine MODS can void these warranties.Check with your shop. On my wifes 2006 Deluxe I bought the 5yr warranty... She is not into engine MODS.
