If I got to have another Softail, it would have to be a springer.

Purchasing another softail my choice would be a deluxe since I already have the train.

For $250 more you can have the full package with bags and a windshield, and I don't think you could add those later for $250.
With the Heritage you can remove them and then wouldn't you essentially have a Deluxe...?
As a heritage owner the deluxe is just a classy clean looking ride. If I didn't use the bags, shield and rode solo all the time, a deluxe would be a great choice. Also its 1" lower stock for the vertically challenged. I like them both. Removing pieces from the heritage looks great but still doesn't look the same as a deluxe.

The deluxe has more chrome and a sleeker look (tombstone tail light and bullet turn signals). The deluxe is a super sexy ride. The heritage is the only stock softail bagger and a great deal if you want to tour on a tail.

I have already had a heritage, fatboy, night train, softail standard, and now a blackline. I consider the blackline the 2nd best softail ever, behind the Night Train. I would have never sold that bike, had I known what I know now! It is hard for me to consider the heritage, slim, deluxe, LO, or Fatboy the best softail because I consider them to be different ideas of the same bike. Just my 2 cents. But I would go Night train, blackline, softail custom, bad boy, springer, heritage springer, heritage, slim, cross bones, fatboy, LO, deluxe, softail standard. If I was to rank them from top to bottom, based on my taste. But like the OP said, everyone thinks they have the best model, best tattoo artist, best ol' lady, etc... HAHAHA

My second favorite (with mine being my favorite) would be a 1997 Bad Boy. Bone stock. I've seen a hand full of them, and have seen them listed online for about $6-9k, and always think about picking one up just to have.
