Default Leather Tank Panel

I have an 07 Heritage Classic and I want to change the OE leather tank panel. My question is there any trick to raising the console up from the tank so as to get at the top of this leather panel. Dumb question, but I don't want to goof anything up. Thanks much, Barrie

Naw its pretty simple, just unscrew that nut on the console then it will lift up off the tank bracket, and youll see how your leather peice comes off, there should be a small screw under the seat that holds that leather piece down, but your not going to hurt anything when tinkering with it.

Thanks for posting that. That's something I want to eventually get to with my bike as well and was wondering every now and then in the back of my mind how that all comes apart. I could take out the shop manual and look it up... but I'm lazy.

I changed my OE plastic tank panel on my '06 FLSTCI to the studded leather one...pretty simple if you follow directions well. They are in the package. (or should be.....) Anyhow, It was pretty painless. I don't expect you should have any problems.

Put it on my old girl this afternoon. Really easy. Take off the seat. Remove the small allen head screw that holds the old bottom panel in place (if you have one). Loosen the bolt holding the dash plate on. Slide the leather panel under the dash. Fasten the bottom of the leather panel using the allen head screw. Tighten the dash back down and replace the seat.
