Default Solo seat on Fat Boy

I have a 2013 Fat Boy and would like to go with a solo seat. What do you guys do about the plastic under the stock passenger seat. Leave it or peal it off?? I am worried about it taking paint with it. Also, looking for ideas to change out the two big thumb nuts that hold the solo seat on. Just want to clean it up some.
Thanks for any advise.

Mine came off with a slow peel. This time of year you may want to include a hair dryer. Any residue, Goo Gone or WD 40 will remove.

Mine is now stuck to garage window in case I want it again.

Same here. Just go gentle with it. I used a hair dryer too.

I replaced my seat with a solo lepers which uses the single bolt further back. I just yanked the plastic and it came off cleanly.
