Default Pullback Risers for Heritage

Hey guys,

My husband just bought me a 2013 Heritage and we are making some modifications. The handlebars are too far forward and I am having to reach for the bars. We went and discussed options with the HD dealership where we bought the bike. I only need 1 or 2 inches in order to comfortable so I can sit back in the saddle. The tech told us we would have to change out all of the cables in order to put ANY riser on the bike. Is this true? He was trying to sell me HD's pullback riser and all new cables for $700+. I honestly think they are just selling me a line of Horse S..... My husband and I put 4 inch pullback risers on my last bike and we didn't have to run new cables. Can someone give me some feedback?? Thanks!!!!

I've got a 2010 Heritage and was having the same problem. I went on this forum and found a Deluxe riser for sale. It is higher and pulls back farther than the Heritage OEM riser. I did not have to change out any cables. I talked with one of the mechanics at the local Harley store and he assured me that it would work. It did and fixed my problem.
You might get on ebay and find a riser that came off of a Deluxe.

I had the same problem with a Slim - leaning too far forward.
I added the pullback risers and they solved the problem, and I didn't need any new cables at all.
The risers I bought (p/n 55900023) appear to be the same ones that come stock on the Deluxe...

Have you tried moving the handlebars down? You can get them a couple inches back by doing this. Of course the bars will also be lower so that may or may not work for you.

My wife has a 2009 Heritage and had the same problem, I installed a set of Deluxe risers with the Deluxe handlebars and now she loves her bike. Now I don't have to worry about purchasing a new ride for her….

I put Deluxe risers on my 2011 Heritage to see if I needed taller bars. Easy change out, no cable changes needed. I did remove one cable clamp on the back of the triple tree shroud though...

That was my first thought. Costs nothing and that may do the trick.

some plain jane risers should not cost more than $50. Just google or yahoo or bing search for them.

The first thing I did when I bought my heritage was to loosen them up and pull the bars back a bit but I still wanted them back more. I ended up buying a set off ebay for about half what the dealer wanted. I think they were 2 inch risers which brought them back about an inch and a half. Perfect fit for me. These are high quality chrome and an easy install with no wiring involved.

If you want more info I could look around for info on the seller as it's been about two years now.
