Fitting windshield with Ape Hangers
I was looking through a thread a couple of weeks back about how some people put spacers on their windshields in order to fit it on their bikes with apes, but many of them were complaining about the angle. Also, there was NO way I was rolling them back. I'm 6'5" and have long arms, and they just wouldn't be comfy any closer to me. Riding long distance on the highway wasn't an option, so here is what I ended up doing:
I didn't take a pic of the whole windshield beforehand, but it was a stock harley shield, so you know what it looked like already.
Here is the spot near the top of the windshield where it was hitting. This was true on both sides:
Here is just how close it was to fitting:
So I decided to notch the area that was making contact with the handlebars. I took a sharpie and marked the windshield just above and to the left (and right on the other side) of where the windshield was making contact, and another mark far enough below the point of contact to where it would fit. I then used the corner of a rounded edge clipboard as a guide and traced around it with a sharpie. A saw, a grind, and a buff later (took 20 mins) and here is the result:
Hope this helps someone in the same position I was
