I may be the only person that can answer this first hand. Week before last I did the exact same thing. I purchased a like new Heritage seat and installed it on my Deluxe. For me it is way better, now I dont feel like I am sitting on the gas tank. I like the way it looks and it is much more comfortable, at least for me.

Most comfortable seat I've ever sat on. Sits you way high on the bike, though, and if you don't have a rear pillion, you'll go flying off the bike first time you gun it, because that seat doesn't sit you down in the bike one bit. Hated it. Much prefer a Deluxe seat over a Heritage seat. If you only care about comfort, though, a Heritage seat is perfect.

I have changed/modded every HD seat I have ever had...Except the Heritage seat...it fits just right from the factory.

Like most have said, stock Heritage seat is one of Harley's best. Put 1,200 miles in 2 days sitting in that stock seat during Bikes, Blues, and BBQ bike rally with NO issues or discomfort....

I have had both, a stock Heritage and stock Deluxe seat. The stock Heritage seat is far more comfortable. The stock Deluxe seat looks cool and fits with the Deluxe but is very uncomfortable and sits you way forward. I eventually replaced the seats on both my Heritage & Deluxe. SJ Ron

The stock seat is really comfortable but I went with the saddlemen because of the adjustable rider backrest. I don't think the actual saddlemen seat is more comfortable than the stock heritage seat.
