Ready for engine mods, which direction to go?
Hey guys, planning some mods on my 07 Softail and looking for some suggestions. Stock 96 motor with just vance and hines exhaust and air cleaner. I`d just like a fun street bike and cruiser thats completely reliable and runs on 93 octane.
Should i just go with one of the harley SE 103 kits with the cams and call it a day or maybe a 107 and ported the heads? So many different combos its hard to make sense. Just wanted to hear some of your opinions, thanks

If you go big bore you might as well do 107 instead of he HD 103. Fuelmoto has a good package with Rover results. Hillside is a good company as well, lots of others out there. The best his to do is contact a shop and talk about what you want to achieve and set up a plan to make sure all your parts compliment each other.

Well I just spent a bunch of money this spring on a big bore/stoker kit and though happy I'll give my 2c if I was to do it over with a bit more budget control. I would go with ported heads, cams, and pistons to match the heads. Dan Vance does a good job at this. And then I would go with the Baker 7speed tranny. I put this gear set in my bike and it has the power band right and so much more useable. It shifts very nice and is quieter and just fun to use. You'll have to upgrade the clutch a bit and use some good pipes but in the end I would have been about 4K richer and maybe not quite as happy but still happy I'm sure.
