All of the Motor changes made to the touring bikes was also done the same yr to the softails. Dyna's was the only one to have 6 speed in 06.

Wind buffering does not come over the top of the Shields, it comes from under it.
The height of a shield will make VERY little diff if any.

The best mod for buffering is the "Fangs" for a Heritage. Don't know if they will fit on a RK.

I am 63 and have taken trips Yearly with our 07 Heritage for the last 6 yrs. They average 6 days and we do about 2k on each one.
Even with a bad back I've found the Heritage is a really good road trip bike and I can and have ridden 350 - 400 miles a day easy without pain.
I've rode a RK, but I just don't like the Ergo's of it VS the Heritage in stock form.
