Mich. Commander II 200/55r17
I am hoping someone has this tire installed on their Cross Bones or Night train or something similar, and can tell me the true mounted width of the thing....
I just got off the phone with a Michelin customer service rep; I am wondering how wide this tire actually is once mounted. I was told it is 8.66" wide, or 219 millimeters, which is what they said was the running, expanded width of the tire while in use. This seems strange because everywhere else I read other sizes of these tires are a bit more narrow than other brands.
This is also what I was told via email:
"Actually 8.66" (220 mm) is the overall width of the tire when in use
When you are riding your motorcycle, the tires become a little bit wider and there is an increase in the width and diameter.
The mounted overall width of the Commander II 200/55R17, is 7.87" or 200 mm"
I don't believe that a tire like that would expand 19 mm or about 10% of its width. Am I crazy?

Widest point to widest point is what I am looking for, should be around 8"s.
Would be very much appreciated! Despite their effort, Michelin wasn't much help.
PS: what width rim do you have it mounted on?
Thanks!
