Default Replacing Oil tank on a FXCW/C

As much as I love my rocker.,I hate the ribbed oil tank look of it.
Been longing to change it to a smooth profile oil tank that is found in every other softail lineup
I was browsing the parts catalog to see if I could get a smooth profile oil tank from another softail line up but On the parts catalog they have mentioned the rocker oil tank separately.

Has anyone put on a smooth profile oil tank on their rocker from another softail family bike.? If so was it an easy swap

Pros & Cons of it.

Attaching pic from parts catalog for reference

Haven't had a chance to see a parts catalog that has break out listed

Any chance if a break out oil tank is a direct swap on a rocker?

I think the oil tank on the Rocker is unique, one from another model won't fit. Perhaps the Breakout tank will, they do look similar.

Also take a look for the oil out & in lines & crankcase vent lines will match if the breakout tank would physically fit.

Personally I like the ribbed tank because its unique to the Rocker.

Check out this rocker. It has the Breakout oil tank. I personally think it looks better.

I heard the breakout tank is a direct replacement.

My dealer is a *****..
He does not even wanna show me a parts catalog..
I went today to check with him if the oil tank from a breakout will work on a rocker and he said NO

Any breakout owner who has a parts catalog can you please verify me the part number and whether is it a direct bolt on to a FXCWC

I don't know for sure either, but I'm guessing the Breakout oil tank will "bolt on". The Rocker and the Breakout are basically the same platform, with some different parts bolted on.

The only way to tell for sure is to get them lined up. Dealer employees can be ****** or know it alls and give out some wrong information all the time. It's no biggie, how can they know all the details on soemthing like that. Even the part numbers or part book won't guarantee it.

Technically it should fit. I have the fxstsse3 and while the rocker has the same as the breakout in a lot of areas, they probably used the fxstsse3 chasis and frame for the breakout. So I would venture to say it is a direct bolt on but no guarantee.

I think the ribbed tank blows the plane one away. Shoot in some ways that makes certain angles of my bike look the best. But we all like different so that's the beauty of it.

Sorry not much more help, but a little is in there. You really need to get one next to yours and look at it. They are in the show rooms at the dealers. ride over and match them up with a tape measure. I've done that before on a non busy day at the dealers.
