Question New tires for my 2008 Night Train

I have 8.5K on my 2008 Night Train and the front and rear tires need replacing soon.

I have read that the Metzeler 210 works on the rear and would like advice on what's the largest tire that I can use on the front whithout changing the wheel or mudguard.

Another question, where can these tires be bought in the US - I have found one or two places, but none list the 210/50r17

Appreciate advice on tire size and supplier.

Your stock front is a 80/90 21.....same as my 2007 FXSTC. I went with a 90/90 in the front...one size wider with no interference with the fender. Not sure if a 100 would fit without swapping out the front fender though. Some say it will. I'm not sure though. Maybe someone will chime in to let you know for sure.

As far as where to find the 210. After reading your post I looked too but could't find anything either. I went with the Pirelli Night Dragons (love them) and stayed with the 200 size for the rear. Not sure how much wider the 210 would be but it wasn't a huge deal because the difference would be so minimal I would hardly notice.

I'll be needing tires soon on my NT and definitely plan on going with the 90/90 front. If I go with Metzler I may try the 210 rear.
If you do go with the 210 let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks, that thread confirmed that I can run the Metz 210 on the rear with no changes, and that I'd best stick with the stock 90/90 21 on the front.

I will do, if I can find a 210 Metz for sale.

My NT stock front is MH90-21

Metz quit making the 210. I had one for a short time. I actually like the 200 better.

I posted an enquiry on their web site, and if they come back and confirm what you're saying, then I'll just stick with the original tires.

My NT has 8.5K on the original HD Dunlop's, which I think is quite reasonable, and in the short time that I've had this NT (2K) I've done some riding in the rain and found then pretty good all round.

NT stock front is MH90-21, which is the same as 80/90-21. 90/90-21 is the largest you can go (safely) on the stock rim width, and as others have posted, it won't interfere with the stock fender.

As for myself, I run a stock size Avon Cobra in the rear and a 90/90-21 Avon Venom-X in the front of my '08 NT.

Response from Metzeler:

Hello

The ME880 210/50ZR17 was dropped from the North American product range about 5 years ago when we introduced the correct original equipment Harley size, the 200/55R17. This tire is readily available and please see your favorite dealer to purchase. Thanks for the e-mail and have a great day.

The 210 was only slightly wider and lower profile. The 200 shows more sidewall and looks better to me anyways.
