Having an issue with starting the bike, need advice.
My buddy has a 2002 Heritage and one day the bike wouldn't start so he bought a new battery. After installing the battery the bike still wouldn't start.
When you turn on the ignition everything powers up like normal.
Hit the start button and the relay clicks a few times and the bike goes dead. Turn the ign off and back on and you have power again.
I changed the relay and still same problem.
Cables look good and so do all the grounds.
Before I yank the starter out can I test it on the bike? Is there something else it could be?
Thanks Brett

I was kinda having similar problems on my 07 deluxe, where it would have a hard time cranking over when hitting the start button. Sometimes I would have to try several times before it started. But then I started trying something I learned here on the forum. I hit the start button almost IMMEDIATELY after I turn the ignition on and it starts up right away. No more problems...

I got it started.
Just in case anyone else has the same problem I did I'll share what I found since I didn't get much response maybe my problem isn't common.
I took the ground wire completely off the bike and found the heat shrink on the end was tore through and the ground wire was rubbing the frame. Fixed that.
Then I took some needle nose pliers and wiggled the green wire on the solenoid. I tried to get it off but it's real tight under the oil tank.
Then I hit the start button and it fired right up.
Not sure what I did but I'm still going to try and get that connector off the starter so I can check it for corrosion.
