My FXST sucks in the twisties, The 21" dosn't have enough rubber on the road to be agressive in the sharp turns,....slow it down....it dose fine.

I would say it was a business (mostly marketing) strategy transformation that saved Harley. The innovations and products, along with a brilliant change in image came about because of this strategy. To have open, clean, un-intimidating dealers and to have mainstream celebrities show off their hogs was remarkably successful, because they were able to change their image without losing their previous hard-core customer base.

The Harley marketing strategy is studied in many business schools as a successful example. "We fulfill dreams..."

The Fatboy put them further in the black

Thats why the crappy mailers come to you twice a week

MOCO and local dealers with cash to burn

Volume Volume Volume

Just ask Ford or Honda in the late 80s with the Taurus and the accord respectively

The Fat Boy alone, no, but the the Softail line certainly accounted for and still accounts for a large part of H-D's success.

You all may be right about fatboys but as far as I am concerned the Japanese helped save Harley by making more dependable bikes which pushed Harley in the right direction at one time Harley was all she wrote but then came the Japanese imports with v engines and more and more looking like Harley's. Yes i know there is no comparison but they were making more dependable bikes then Harley and Harley steeped up and made it right i firmly believe that the Japanese helped the situation
