Did the Dealer install the wrong tire?
#21
Well I stopped by the Dealer and inquired about the D401 and D402.
I was informed that the Heritage stock blackwall tire is the D401 so that's why it was installed.
The Dealer stated since I ride 60-70% around town and only 30-40% touring that both tires will have positive and negatives for me, however he pointed out that the D401 is a wider, softer tire and should provide a better ride on a softail.
The D402 being a skinnier, harder tire will not ride as good on a softail.
It's primarily designed for touring bikes that have variable suspensions.
So in short the Dealer informed me that for my purpose the D401 is the best tire and that if I keep the air pressure at 40 psi, I should get 8-10K out of it.
The Dealer did verify though that my original paperwork stated that I wanted a D402 and he offered to replace the D401 with a D402, however I've decided to just keep the D401.
