You need to ride it more, the more you do the better it all works. The clunk will never go away. The bike needs to break in

My Night Train has 7000mi and clunks into gear about 50% of the time, particularly if I change up early.

I'm soon to do a service and intend going with Mobil 1 75w90 in the transmission to see if it that reduces the clunks.

I'm serious in this, my bike LOVES the Amsoil 75/90 gear lube. My bike doesn't clunk or click anymore since I went to it long ago. If the bike is really hot and it's hot out, traffic riding, I may notice a clunk every great once in awhile but for the most part, it's gone. I also do not have a stock 5 or 6 speed tranny, I have the SE 6 speed tranny in it so I don't know if thats it our not. I don't think it is though because my last bike, a 97 Heritage 5 speed, that didn't clunk or click either once I started putting the Amsoil in. I know there are many who says that it will ALWAYS clunk no matter what but seriously, this bike doesn't do it and my last bike didn't do it either. Last year I got talked into trying that Red Line stuff in this Deluxe and it started clicking and clunking before I even got a mile down the road. I went back to what I have always used and it got quiet again before I got another mile down the road. Believe it or not, say "no way" but all I can tell you is that it's true.

My 13 heritage will sometimes silently go into first. All the other gears it will clunk or click. When its still cold it shifts the smoothest. Gonna try the amsoil gear lube though
. I have 5000 miles on it so far.
