This is Bartow Carver Park on Lake Allatoona, north of Atlanta. From 1950 to 1975 this spot was George Washington Carver State Park, named for the man who made some significant contributions in the field of Botany. When that park closed it was taken over by Red Top Mountain State Park, and at some point went to Bartow County and became Bartow Carver Park. So it's a park, named after a park, that was named after someone who made a scientific contribution.
To make it all worse, I didn't know the place is closed on Mondays until I got there this morning, so I couldn't get anywhere near the sign.
