I made a similar idea with a bolt and a Sportster belt guard. I know it isn't nearly as cool, but it was free.

I like your primary cover - who makes that?

The end of the license plate bracket is adjustable. Pull your license plate off, remove the center bolt holding the slide out plate on, remove the slide out plate, and turn your license plate vertical. Tada!
I did the same thing on mine until my real vertical plate holder gets here.

Quickie:
1. Remove the 2 bolts holding your license plate on.
2. Remove the adjustment bolt in the center that holds the 2 halves of the frame together.
3. Store the outer half of the frame and the adjustment bolt.
4. Use those 2 bolts to mount the plate vertically using the 2 upper slots in what remains of the plate holder. It ain't pretty, but it's free.

Thank you (old thread but helpful nonetheless) - just did it on mine took like 5 mins tops. BTW you can use the outer part of the plate bracket. when you turn the license plate vertical and put the plate's two top bolts on to upper part of bracket, slide the outer part of plate bracket that you took off up from the bottom of the license plate, and you'll see it lines up with two holes on the upper part of bracket. use two low-head bolts to secure the bracket halves together and push it up so it locks over the plate, then insert the bottom two plate screws, done. And it still looks completely factory, actually looks like it came that way from HD
