Default New to the Softail World! Just thought I'd say, HI

Just wanted to introduce myself to the Softail Community side of the forum. I've been a long time member of the forums over on the Tour Bike Section. This past week I decided to make a BIG change on my motorcycle life. I have really enjoyed the Harley Tour Bikes I have owned over the years. Most recent was the RoadGlide Ultra. IMO the best bike in the fleet for all out Tour Bikes. Now I dont "Tour" all that often but I do like having all of the toys included with the Tour Bike. Or so I thought?. Long story short, I decided to go a different direction with my riding. The tour bikes are great BUT sometimes I got the feel I wasn't really riding a motorcycle. Almost a two wheel convertible. I have a loving wife BUT she is a one bike woman. Meaning I can have ANY bike I want but ONLY one at a time. So for those of you that have both a tour bike and another IMO you are living the dream. Any way, back to my switch, I fell in love with the looks of the Fatboy and really thought that would be the bike I would switch too. I did test drive a Fatboy, and then a Heritage. Both nice bikes but something was missing for me. I just couldn't put my finger on it. Then I saw a used Deluxe and said that's it! I went over and sat on it and right away I knew it was for me. The seat, the bars and of course the looks had me sold. The dealer had a used 2012 with only 1600 miles on it but for the price of a new 2013 being not that much more I went with the new. I tossed a handful of goodies on it along with a windshield. I thought the looks of the windshield would make it something I only put on during cold or long rides but I must admit, this bike really doesn't look as bad as I thought it would with it on. I put on a HD 18" Smoke windshield and it works pretty well with the lines of the bike. Sure the bike looks better without but not so bad with it. Pretty sure it will be on 99% of the time.

Well, all and all I've only got 60 miles on the new ride. I just picked it up yesterday but already I know this was the right choice. The looks of the Deluxe are simply amazing! And coming off of a tour bike I didn't expect to have the feel of all day comfort with this bike by only tossing on a windshield. The stock seat, bars and shocks seem to be great for me. Fortunately my wife doesn't ride with me but once or twice a year because with that passenger pad I don't think she would say the same. :-)

Ride safe,

T

Very nice choice on bike! I too would LOVE to have a touring bike with my Fatty, and if I did, it would DEFINITELY be a Road Glide Custom. Very nice rides.

Welcome and congratulations. I don't think you will ever be sorry for your choice. This Deluxe is the best of the bunch that I have ever owned going back to the 1st street bike I bought on my own, a 75 Super Glide when I turned 18. There is ALSO so much you can do to that bike, more so than any other IMHO. Ride safe Dude and get the feel of it under your belt. It rides nothing like a Tourer.
